Abstract The Riverine Plain extends over the southeastern part of the Cainozoic Murray Basin in northern Victoria.

The basement rocks consist predominantly of tightly-folded Lower Palaeozoic shale, siltstone and sandstone. The northward extensions of the Cambrian meta-colcanic and meta-dolerite outcrop belts were traced by their interception in bores and by interception of aeromagnetic maps...
