Product description:

Abstract Gravity, magnetic and seismic refraction results gathered along a traverse across the Kiewa valley are discussed. Gravity and magnetics readings are reduced by conventional methods, and Schenck's Wavefront Targeting technique is used to interpret the seismic results. A depth profile of the basement along the traverse is produced form the seismic results, and correlations are carried out between basement depth, gravity, and magnetic results to determine the cause of the gravity and magnetic anomalies. The gravity anomalies are shown to be related to the basement depth, but the magnetic anomalied appear to be unrelated to the basement depth. Inspection of these results shows that seismic refraction profiling would be most effective of the methods considered in basement profiling for hydrogeological purposes.
