Abstract This report describes the data sources and methods used to compile new geological and geophysical maps of the Bendigo 1:100 000 mapsheet 7724, and the southern part of the Mitiamo 1:100 000 mapsheet 7725. It contains a summary of previous work, and gives a brief account of the physiography, geological history and regional setting, rock units, and structural geology, and presents an interpretation of new geophysical data. The emphasis of this report is to highlight additions and changes to the previous geology maps of this region, and to point to sources of additional relevant detailed geological information. The new maps provide a compilation of all available previously published and unpublished data, as well as incorporating information from a new graptolite database incorporated in the corporate sites database, and historical data from a mines database collated by Bendigo Mining NL. Important geological changes are a direct result of interpretation of new magnetic data, and due to a new understanding of the geological history of central Victoria which was developed by GSV during several recent mapping projects.
