Product description:

Executive Summary:
The Shepparton-Numurkah Regional Ground Gravity Survey provides a new Victorian fundamental geoscientific dataset, delivered as part of the Geological Survey of Victoria’s Eastern Victoria Geoscience Initiative, a key component of the Southeast Lachlan Crustal Transect.

From August 2023 to April 2024 the Shepparton-Numurkah Regional Ground Gravity Survey acquired 23,456 new ground gravity measurements at a nominal station spacing of 500 m to infill existing GPS-era gravity data along roads and tracks. The digital gravity data, survey summary and operations report are included with this report. The digital gravity data are included in the state and national gravity databases available from the Victorian Government’s and Geoscience Australia’s online data delivery platforms.

Improving the resolution and accuracy of regional gravity data in northern Victoria enables the use of advanced signal processing, filtering, and image enhancement techniques. This allows subtle features to be interpreted with greater confidence, leading to more refined geological interpretations in areas with limited bedrock exposure and predominantly non-magnetic sediments. The new gravity data will support detailed new interpretations of bedrock structural relationships and geometries in the project area.
