3D geological model of Victoria 2011
| ||||||||||||||||
Product description:This new 3D model of Victoria represents the culmination of a major period of geological data acquisition in Victoria. It is based on more than two decades of modern, world class surface geological mapping, supported by comprehensive regional scale airborne magnetic and radiometric surveys, ground gravity surveys, two new regional seismic surveys in central and western Victoria and extensive seismic survey coverage in the younger basins. Together, these datasets have enabled GeoScience Victoria to develop an unprecedented view of the full thickness of the earth's crust across the entire State.The 3D Victoria program is part of the Rediscover Victoria Initiative, designed to provide explorers and resource managers alike with a world class 3D geological dataset. This model can be used to analyse resource potential, predict the location of undiscovered earth resources and allow the development of 4 dimensional resource management frameworks for the State's energy and groundwater resources.
