GU Report 12 - New 40Ar/39Ar geochronology of gold mineralisation in central Victoria: interim report
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Product description:Previous 40Ar/39Ar geochronological data, as well as problems in data collection and interpretation, were highlighted in an earlier report (see Fu et al., 2007). In the current interim report, we provide a summary of samples selected for 40Ar/39Ar dating analyses and available results to June, 2008, which provide further constraints on the timing of gold mineralisation in central Victoria, Australia. The report covers both 40Ar/39Ar laser probe and step-heating furnace analyses conducted on mineral separates and whole-rock samples, mainly from the Castlemaine – Chewton, Bendigo, Fosterville – Lockington, Malmsbury, Maldon, Ballarat and Woods Point – Walhalla goldfields.
